FAQ

Where is this taking place?

The In-Person con will be taking place at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.

The Virtual con will take place on our private Discord server.

What is Discord?

Discord is an app for desktop, phones, and tablets, though a download is not mandatory – our Discord server can be accessed in a browser window. It will allow us to simulate the vibe of the in person con by allowing us to host events, speakers, and various virtual rooms that serve different purposes. It is private, self-contained, and accessible by invite only.

Do I have to be an ISCA member to participate in ISCAcon30?

You have to be a Professional ISCA member to attend and compete in the In-Person con.

You have to be an Introductory, Online or Professional Member to sign up to be a part of the virtual experience. However, only Professional Members will be able to vote, compete and display artwork in their own virtual wall spaces.

I’m planning on attending in person. Does my registration also get me access to the virtual component?

Yes, anyone who attends in person will have full access to the virtual ISCAcon Discord server and is encouraged to hang out with attendees there.

Will all of the seminars be in person? If a speaker cannot attend, am I entitled to a refund?

All of our speakers have been asked to deliver their seminars in person, but with the option to switch to a remote presentation should the need arise. Regardless, all scheduled speakers and events are subject to change, so even if a speaker drops out entirely, this will not warrant a refund.

Will I receive a box of goodies if I register for the Virtual con?

No, goodie bags will only be available for attendees of the In-Person con. Virtual con attendees will NOT receive any mailed con swag this year.

Do I have to be present at every live event for the Virtual con?

No, you do not need to be present the entire week to partake in the experience. We’ll be posting recordings of talks for you to enjoy as bingeable content any time!

Will there be competitions?

Yes! Most awards, including the Golden Nosey, will be accessible for online AND in person attendees. A full list of award categories for both In-Person and Virtual attendees are listed here

How does voting work?

Voting can only be done by Professional ISCA Members. We will use a virtual voting form that will be available for both the In-Person and Virtual con.

If I want to bring a guest for just the banquet, how do I register them?

Contact CeCe, manager@caricature.org, she can help you register your guest.

Proof of Vaccination FAQ

ISCAcon is being held as a hybrid virtual/in-person event for 2021. While we will be hosting a smaller-than-usual gathering of members at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, we are committed to hosting a fun and engaging event for attendees on-site and online. That said, if you wish to join us in person in Las Vegas, we will require proof of full vaccination against Covid-19*

*In general, people are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.Source: CDC: When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated

  • Why are you requiring proof of full vaccination?
    • We are requiring proof of full vaccination in order to safely and responsibly host the in-person aspect of our hybrid conference. This is in response to the surge caused by the Delta variant. Those who are unvaccinated or unable to provide sufficient proof of vaccination may participate virtually. If you arrive on site and are unable to provide sufficient proof of vaccination, you will not be permitted to enter the ballroom or any ISCA spaces at the hotel.
  • What proof will you accept?
    • We will accept proof of full vaccination by any of the following Covid-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization:
      • Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines (e.g., COMIRNATY, Tozinameran)
      • AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccines (e.g., Covishield, Vaxzevria)
      • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine
      • Moderna COVID-19 vaccine
      • Sinopharm BIBP COVID-19 vaccine
      • Sinovac-CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine
    • You may submit proof in advance by the following means:
      • Emailing us a photo of your vaccination card (This is the preferred method)
      • Showing your vaccination card (or a photo of your card) along with your ID at registration.
      • Presenting a digital proof of vaccination via VaxYes.
      • If you were vaccinated outside the US, a QR code linking to proof of your vaccination will be accepted.
  • Will you accept a negative Covid test in lieu of vaccination?
    • No – While we encourage everyone to get tested, we do not require it and we will not accept a negative Covid test in lieu of proof of vaccination. This is due to the length of our event and the amount of time required to get reliable test results.
  • If I test positive while at ISCAcon, or I feel ill, what should I do?
    • Please do not enter the ballroom if you feel ill. If you have symptoms or test positive for Covid, you should immediately isolate and/or seek emergency medical attention in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Am I able to bring my child to ISCAcon this year?
    • This year, children will not be permitted in the ballroom or any ISCA spaces unless they are fully vaccinated. If you do choose to travel with children, please see the CDC’s Guide for Protecting Unvaccinated Family Members for more information.
  • What other safety protocols are in place?
    • The Golden Nugget currently has a mask policy in place that states: All vaccinated and unvaccinated guests and employees are required to wear a face mask while in this establishment. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth unless actively eating, drinking, or smoking.
    • Daily temperature checks.
    • ISCA is providing masks and sanitizer in attendee’s gift bags.
    • The event space is being optimized with social distancing in mind. This includes spaced out seating in the ballroom and assigned tables during meals.
    • Work for this year’s con may be created freely outside of the ballroom.
    • Virtual tickets are available for those who cannot attend in person.
    • In an effort to help track and contain spread of the virus, the state of Nevada uses the built-in iOS Exposure Notification system on iPhone (which you can opt-in to) as well as an Android app called Covid Trace Nevada.
